Keeping Kids Healthy

At Perfect Organics our philosophy has always been “there is no long term health or beauty without clean air, water, and soil”. When we choose organic foods and body care products we are supporting organic agriculture, which helps keep the water we drink and the air we breathe clean.  Eating organic foods and choosing organic body care products assists us in having fewer toxins in our bodies and maintaining a healthier environment.  Children in particular need extra nourishment and protection as their bodies are developing and growing.  “Social Work Today” posted an article titled: “Chemical Kids – Environmental Toxins and Child Development” by Dan Orzech.  According to the article, there are 85,000 chemicals registered in the U.S.  Additionally, “There’s a growing body of evidence making a connection between how well children perform in school and life and toxins in their environment.”  With this in mind, making sure children are eating healthy, nutritious, organic foods is of utmost importance.  We also can’t forget that as children’s immune systems are being built, 60% of what they put on their skin can eventually be absorbed into their bloodstreams. As adults, toxins affect us all…   imagine how much greater effect toxins have on young growing children.  We have the responsibility of choice and making the best, healthiest choices for ourselves and our children.  With that said…  we are thrilled to offer a savings coupon from Mom Made Foods with every online purchase at Perfect Organics.   Mom Made Foods has become our favorite because they provide delicious, organic meal selections and they are easy to prepare. We love the Cheesy Mac and the Fiesta Rice meals and….the Bean Burrito Munchie. You can check them out at  www.mommadefoods.com.

Healthy Homes in Chicago!

Healthy Home Tours!!

Attention residents of Chicagoland! From August 28th until September 13th, you have the chance to tour a spectacular eco-friendly showhome in Long Grove that was created by Dior Builders.  The custom home features the latest in sustainable technology with a special focus on air quality, locally-sourced materials and water conservation.  According to Victoria Di Iorio of Dior Builders, who spearheaded the project:   “Most Americans spend a full 80 percent of their time indoors; it’s no wonder that indoor air quality has been identified as the fourth largest environmental threat in the nation.  Our mission is to showcase sustainable and healthy home design through interactive materials and hands-on exhibits.”

The tour opened with a “Breath of Fresh Air” benefit party sponsored by L’Elegante Cuisine and Ciroc which raised $25,000 for Perfect Organics’ non-profit partner organization Healthy Child Healthy World.    Guests of the event were able to learn about green living via hands on exhibits and interactive materials including experiencing and taking home Perfect Organics Ultimate 3-in-1 Body Washes.  Klean Kanteen, Luna and Luxe interiors + design and Tote-ally Green Bag Co. also contributed product to the opening party.

Debra Claire at George Mason University!

There is a lot of talk of entrepreneurship in the media as of late. If necessity really is the mother of invention, then we should be preparing for an onslaught of new products, services and solutions to the “challenges” that resulted from the global financial meltdown.   While the talking heads are pointing fingers and drawing up rescue plans on the tv and in the newspaper, I’m proud to say that Debra Claire, founder and CEO of Perfect Organics, and a true entrepreneur, was a presenter at the “Young Entrepreneurs Academy” at George Mason University.  George Mason University is a well respected university and the School of Management at GMU is no exception. With a strong commitment to social entrepreneurship and its “Young Entrepreneurs Academy” (YEA), the School of Management is turning out leaders with the tools and innovative spirit to succeed in these critical times.  The YEA program, in particular, is an annual event bringing aspiring entrepreneurs together to learn practical business skills and to apply the entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of their career goals.   As an invited speaker, Debra shared her personal story with the attendees; why she created Perfect Organics, what her initial challenges were, and how she grew a company from “nothing” to a full body care line that has been featured in magazines, used by celebrities and now is available internationally.  As we collectively shift to meet the challenges of a “new” economy, programs like YEA are fostering the necessary dialogues to respond to tomorrow’s challenges. For more information on George Mason University School of Management, please visit:    http://som.gmu.edu/
